01. I love … Cooking

Standard

I love food.
I love cooking new delicacies.
I love having color in my food.
Me and food? Inseparable.
… Healthy food that is.. Except Big treat bread. Big treat bread is my nemesis in my healthy food lifestyle. It’s just soft and fluffy. Even their wheat bread doesn’t taste as shitty.
It trumps shoprite bread on every level! EVERY DAMN LEVEL!
Don’t believe me? Go to any big treat outlet and get yours, A trial will convince you.

Back to my praising food. I love colorful food and one day, i happened to have the right ingredients at home and i whipped this up. I must have made it half a dozen times since that glorious day, only stopping when the house ran out of meat
Without much ado, i introduce:

the eggeronni

Ingredients:
boiled, flavored and chopped meats (chopped turkey, chicken etc would work it)
Green pepper
Half of a Tomato
Half of a Red pepper
Half of an onion
An egg or two
Oil
Condiments (i went with salt and powdered garlic in this one)
[quantity used might vary as suits your needs]

20141002-112300.jpg

1. chop all your vegetables individually in separate containers.
2. pour your your oil in a pan and light up on your lowest flame setting.
3. Toss in your onions and tomatoes. Don’t wait for the oil to get hot to do this
4. Tumble in your choice meats after a minute or two Sprinkle some water on it if it’s just coming out of a cool place, or better still, microwave in a closed container
5.Using a spoon, spread out everything in the pan
6. Break your egg(s) in at separate parts of the pan, make sure to leave room for the egg white that’ll spread. You don’t want the eggs piled on and thick
7. Once the egg white starts forming, sprinkle your green and red peppers on the pan. Make sure they all land on the frying eggs. Your pan contents should look something like

20141002-113110.jpg

8. Leave it to fry.
9. You might notice the base is done and feel tempted to pull out, but the egg yolks might not be. Only one way to find out… Call on Super spatula, your trusty plastic spatula. Use it to gently turn the egg. Depending on the size of egg in the pan, you might need to carefully cut the egg in the middle first before turning it.

10. Leave it to fry for a minute, pressing lightly where the culprit egg is wither super spatula.
11. Ready!!

12. Served!!

20141002-113811.jpg

I know it seems long but it really isn’t… Ten minutes max once you get the hang of it… It’s like 5 bridged steps.

Don’t forget me

Standard

Hey guys… It’s been a while, innit? I’ve not written diddly squat on here this month. Yes, and I barely wrote last month, i know… I’M ALREADY ASHAMED, DON’T MAKE ME FEEL WORSE!!
I can blame my current’s phone inability to type well, my inconsistency in stealing my dad’s iPad, my fear of using mum’s tab…. But i think we ALL know the only person I will be blaming today is Akon… He wants it the blame. Bad.

20140323-121623.jpg

Anyways, i’ve started sewing classes… And watching my food… And i’ve finished driving school… So my resolutions are going really well…
Here’s a funny picture of yours’ truly earlier today… Stay awesome, xoxo.

resolution 2014, lowkey supported by niké… Just Do It.

Standard

So it’s a new year and it still has that new cloth smell… I have plans, I have resolutions…. people are so against them, I don’t get. How can you measure what you’ve done or not done without a conscious decision. Well, honestly, I don’t care about anybody else, it’s your life innit?

Do you, because ama do me.

Anyway, because I already have a basic picture of what I want when I turn 25. My goals for the year are really just the stepping stones to it.

1. Workout 4 times a week. Flat tummy is not by abracadabra.

2. Always have a christian book to read.

3. List out your friends names somewhere. Know them, Take care of them.

4. Less time on twitter. If you wanna waste time stroll around. Don’t stay cooped up. No one’s gonna steal you.

5. Get your big L on and start letting to drive.

6. Attend more human resource development conferences.

7. Take an hour before bed (10 or 11) to meditate on the day and write down things you are thankful for (I read this on my friend’s, tiemibix, blog and I’m applying it for myself all year.

8. Remember the fro and keep her nourished with multivitamins, moisture and oils.

9. Go out on more dates.

10. Develop a healthy eating regimen.

11. Always have a bottle of water in your bag.

12. Work on your relationship with God.

13. Keep the nails uneaten.

14. Remember date-nights with God and don’t be late.

15. Learn to sew.

16. Take yourself out to relax every three weeks.

17. Reduce the shopping. More clothes 18. Write your shopping wishlist for the year sha. Because you will still shop. Just keep to the list.

19. Save 20% of all inflow.

20. Pay your 10% tithe. #NeverForgetOrPostpone.

21. Spend 10% for people in need.

22. Keep a journal of your spendings. TRY!

23. Have a morning routine: pray, read, exercise, eat.

Might add more later, but yeah, this is the plan. Benjamin Franklin once said that it takes 13 weeks to develop a habit, good or bad. I have 52 weeks. There are No excuses.is not the answer.

Christmas breakfast: DIY shawarma.. Or as i now call them, food in blankets

Standard

I love shawarma. I love it almost as much as i love a cup of cold gari, a bottle of fresh yo (formerly smoozy. Note to blue band, i HATE the new name) and mr. Biggs meatpie. Almost.
In fact, the only reason I don’t love it as much are because it is messy to eat outside AND it is expensive.

20131225-144100.jpg

Looks yummy doesn’t it…. It IS that yummy. Usually…
The first time i ever bought shawarma it went for like 300 naira that was wayyy back. I was around 17 then. Now it goes for around 1000 – 1200!!
*pause for dramatic gasp*

And for something that is too messy to even eat out? Not worth it… And When i say messy, i mean wiping off your lip stick and replacing it with anything in the food type messy and falling apart in your hand and dripping on your clothes type of messy.

So today, i finally went about trying to make it myself.

Main ingredient is the pita bread… Its flat and comes in a pack of between four and six.

20131225-144757.jpg

The rest actually depend on you…
For this one, i went with what was in the house basically. Couple of vegetables, meat, egg and chicken.

First of all, I had green pepper, onions, tomato, red pepper, fried up in a little oil with thyme and salt.

20131225-145812.jpg

Corned beef was boiled… Chicken was boiled… Eggs were boiled. All this was part of the christmas breakfast menu oh, so I was pretty much making all this already.

I shredded some chicken and added a little of the beef to the frying vegetables, added a little from the chicken stock so it wouldn’t be too dry or too wet either.

I mashed my egg, put it on the bread, then added the sauce and warmed it all in the microwave for a little.

20131225-150433.jpg
You see why i call it food in blanket?? Looking so cozy… Then i rolled it up and had myself some soup and fish to go with it.

20131225-150823.jpg

I have never felt fuller guys… And it’s all perfectly healthy too!!
Next time, i’m gonna try suya and sausage with salad with mayo. To healthy affordable eating guyzz ^_^

Sneak peek at popsi… as soon as food was ready, he didn’t even wait for anyone.. Loool.

20131225-151346.jpg

Hope you guys had plenty yumminess to celebrate the day with too. 🙂
