Lost Words

FINALLY!!

I have been working on this for weeks!! Well, not really weeks, just a couple of days in each week… a few minutes of some few days actually.

*sigh*

I really did work hard on this one… mainly because it’s a competition thingie from one of the blogs I follow, The Naked Convos <<<<(click there if you want to get there). They started a story and well…. I get to end it! Easy smeezy??

NOT!!! VERY hard and annoying and frustrating, especially editing! I’ve never had to edit so much!!

 *deep breath*

Anyways the bolded out parts are the story that were already given and the rest are my work, please grab a bottle of Lacasera, sit back, put on your imagination caps and enjoy.

Lost Words

 Now

Aigbe smiled callously as he watched Esosa tumble backwards onto the floor. He thought to himself that she quite looked like a fish out of water – flailing about, reaching for support that would not be forthcoming. His smile very quickly evolved into a cruel laugh as he watched the back of her head crash onto the cold, tiled floor with a sickening, wet sound. Leaping astride her semi-conscious body, he rained three solid blows onto her torso, working his way from her lower ribcage to her sternum. She yelped, shook and choked with each blow, unable to fight back.

“You are the one that will die, not me, Stupid Harlot!”

He spat into her face as the last blow landed and she choked violently, jerking with the impact of the blow and recoiling from the glob of projectile spittle that had hit her face.

“You!  Are! A! Mad! Dirty! Prostitute!”

Each word was punctuated by a slap that sent waves of pain coursing through Esosa’s head. She could barely speak or shout or scream in protest, much less move. She felt herself start to slip into a numb blackness but she tried to hold on.  Aigbe wrapped his hands around her neck and muttered.

“Witch! Harlot! Your plan has failed!”

Esosa closed her eyes and let the numbing darkness take her as her husband choked the remaining life from her, his wedding ring pressing against her carotid artery.

2 hours earlier

Esosa smiled to herself as she poured the brown powder into the bottle of Merlot. She re-corked it and shook it violently until the powder began to dissolve. She knew Aigbe was already on his way home… Swiftly, she made her way upstairs and into the bedroom, handing the bottle to Seyi, the detective, who in turn handed it to the man beside him.

“Did you pour the exact amount?” the man asked, squinting into the green bottle, “Too much and well, make sure to tell your father ‘hi!’”

Esosa nodded. She was shaking… was this really her? Planning the down-fall of a person…? Her own husband…?

“When Aigbe enters the house, you drink a glass-full of the liquid. That gives you a half hour before you lose your muscular ability, swiftly followed by a blackout—”

“That’s when we come in and grab him,” Seyi added “but, you must get him to talk, we need proof of his involvement.”

All that remained was the call affirming that Aigbe had seen all the sex-texts on her ‘missing’ phone. Wunmi should have called by now. Detective Seyi’s phone rang. After a glance, he handed it to her, mouthing Wunmi.

“He has left… Esosa… he was angry oh! He even started throwing bottles. They had to kick him out.”

“Wunmi… thank you!”

“Can’t you hear me! Esosa! He said he was going to kill you!”

“Wunmi, don’t worry I am fine…”

“See this girl oh! In fact, I’m calling the police!”

“No! I’m going to deal him.”

“deal wi—, what have you done?!”

The fear in her friend’s voice was palpable. Esosa wished she could tell her the plan, but Seyi had said that the less people who were privy to this night’s happenings, the better. She felt for the gun hidden in her pocket. “Wunmi… I’ll be fine, I promise.”

2 days earlier

“We have a name madam, you’ll have the document by morning.”

“…on the person siphoning the company’s funds?”

“Yes… and your father’s killer.”

The call haunted her; The little sleep she garnered that night were wrought with images of her father.

Two months of investigation, and it all came down to this… a rip of the package spilled papers and photographs. Papers her eyes scanned through rapidly.

By the time she was done, tears were streaming down Esosa’s face. It all made sense now… it all added up. There was no solid evidence but, she knew as surely as she knew her name that he was the killer… and for what? Greed! He wanted the whole company!

As Esosa held the photograph, anger welled up in her, rage tore in her heart… How stupid could she have been? How gullible? With her own hands, she had given her father the poison that had killed him!

2 months earlier

She sat in a corner of the room, rocking herself. He was gone! After been bed-ridden for months from a hit and run over a year back, Esosa had never thought that death would try again.

A heart attack, the doctor had said. One minute, they had been talking, the next he was gasping incoherently… His cold hands grasping hers, Esosa had felt his very life slipping from between her fingers. She had held on fast to her last parent, begging him not to go, not to leave her. But, he had… he left her all alone in the world with a multi-national corporation and a jealous man she had ceased to love.

Mr. Olasope, the company’s lawyer and her father’s long-time friend had disagreed, “he still had a check-up yesterday, nothing was wrong…” He wanted to have the body flown out for a more thorough autopsy. Aigbe, he said, would run the company till she could take over. Esosa didn’t care. Her last hold to life was gone.

2 years earlier

Location: A tinted Mercedes outside the IDD corp. building, Victoria Island

Time: 2.10 pm

Orders: Mr. Airege would step out of the building to have lunch at the restaurant across the road. Run him down.

A grey-haired suited man stepped out of the building. The driver revved the engine.

200 miles away

Aigbe’s eyes zeroed in on the laughing girls as they stepped out of the building. Wunmi and Esosa. Esosa would get the call as soon as her old man was hit. It would be go-time! He had to move.

He got out of the car, and walked slowly towards them. He knew the exact moment Wunmi saw him. Her eyes widened and a slow smile crossed her lips, she nudged Esosa to look. Close up, Wunmi was  far more beautiful than Esosa. She had a body that made his mouth water. He would get her. Later. Esosa was the mark. For now.

“Hello,” he said.

Wunmi smiled, whilst Esosa looked at him expectantly, “Hi?”

“I’m Aigbe… you’re very beautiful… I mean both of you… She’s the one I saw… I saw you too oh… I don’t usually do this, but I… I was wondering if we could…” He took a deep breath, “please can I have your number?”

They were smiling now… feeling sorry for him… feeling that he was so into them, he couldn’t line words up straight. So vain… so easy to manipulate…

Esosa nodded. He saved her number and moved off; close enough to move in swiftly, far enough to be ignored. As soon as it was Go-time, she’d be too grief-stricken to care. He’d be there for her, marry her, bankrupt the company and disappear.

He didn’t wait long. He watched her pick the phone. Tears started streaming down her face, she was screaming. Wunmi could barely control her. He hurried to her. It was GO-TIME!
